SMIGS Laparoscopic Skills Workshop

The SMIGS (Sydney Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery) unit, an AGES-accredited training centre, invites you to our comprehensive Laparoscopic Skills Workshop

Designed for RANZCOG trainees, fellows, and practising gynaecologists, this full-day, hands-on program builds the essential skills required to perform minimally invasive gynaecological surgery safely and effectively to an AGES Level 4–5 standard.

Program Highlights

  • Laparoscopic entry techniques and safe access

  • Advanced pelvic anatomy, ergonomics, and uterine manipulation in theatre

  • Practical training with laparoscopic trainers, focusing on suturing and tissue handling

  • Safe use of energy and devices in minimally invasive surgery

  • Contained morcellation techniques using real tissue

  • Application of haemostatic agents in complex cases (supported by Baxter)

  • Interactive video review: real-time, unedited surgical footage with expert debrief and panel discussion led by AGES supervisors

  • Evening networking dinner with faculty and peers

This workshop is RANZCOG accredited for CPD points, supporting ongoing professional development in line with college requirements.
